Depression is another very common reason people seek counseling with me.
Depression can show up as:
-Feelings of sadness, loneliness, or hopelessness.
-Loss of pleasure or motivation
-Difficult Sleeping or Sleeping more than usual
-Eating More or Less than Usual
-Increase in Anxiety
-Feeling worthless, guilty, or self blaming.
-Lack of energy, feeling “heavy” physically & mentally
-May involve thoughts of death or suicide: if you at any point are considering hurting yourself, please know that you are not alone and support is out there. In case of an emergency, always call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255.
Depression can be present despite what is going on externally in your life, so don’t let others tell you to just “snap out of it” or get over it. Working in a safe space with a counselor on symptoms can be a great step in managing depression.
